A number of our committee members travelled to Ireland’s Tidiest Town, Trim, to accept the Bronze Medal won by our community in the 2022 National Tidy Towns Competition. The award ceremony for the Midlands and East region took place on Wednesday 28th June at St Loman's GAA Clubhouse in Trim. The presentation was made by Councillor Paul McCabe, Leas Cathaoirleach of Meath County Council and Anthony Robinson, SuperValu Regional Manager. Officials from the Department of Rural and Community Development were also present

Meanwhile, judging for the 2023 Competition is at an advanced stage so we’re keeping our fingers crossed for another good result when the results are announced in October. Judging is also underway for Louth Looking Good so a very busy time for our committee and volunteers!

Dromiskin Heritage Park has been developed on a phased basis using a cocktail of funding for the various stages. Located on a site in the ownership on the parish, initial civil works funded by ORIS include creation of an entrance, installation of pathways and planting of boundary hedging and trees. Various interpretations have been provided including Railway, Sporting and Agricultural Heritage, panels highlighting the Famous Sons and Daughters of the Parish and a tribute to Fr Nicholas Callan. The latest additions, funded by way of a LEADER grant, comprise of an Ogham Stone, an Audio Unit telling background stories to our heritage and a book sign highlighting the natural heritage of our community.

The recent installation of our phone box certainly provides a nod to times past when the village centre phone box was a key element of the streetscape and social fabric of the village. This new replica phone box, sponsored by Councillor Liam Reilly, serves a different but equally important purpose in that it is the Information Point for locals and visitors to the village. A variety of leaflets including our Heritage Trail Leaflet, Get Dromiskin Buzzing Leaflet and proposed Sculpture Trail leaflet will be available as well as leaflets promoting the amenities of neighbouring communities.
